Blood, Cycles, and Transformation: Two Ritual Experiences This Summer
There are moments when transformation arrives gently, like a whisper from the unconscious. There are others when it emerges through intensity, demanding our full presence.
In the coming weeks, I invite you to explore both.
Ouroboros: A Dark Ambient Sound Bath
Sunday, June 28
The Ouroboros is one of humanity's oldest symbols—a serpent consuming its own tail, endlessly dissolving and recreating itself. It represents the eternal cycle of death and rebirth, destruction and creation, endings and beginnings. It is the alchemical process of becoming.
This month's Dark Ambient Sound Bath explores the archetype of the Ouroboros through guided meditation, breathwork, and live dark ambient soundscapes. Together we will descend into the cyclical nature of transformation, examining the parts of ourselves that are ready to be shed and the aspects waiting to emerge.
Unlike traditional sound baths focused solely on relaxation, this experience draws inspiration from Jungian psychology, shadow work, and the liminal spaces where profound change occurs. Through sound, visualization, and collective ritual, participants are invited to witness the endless process of death and rebirth unfolding within themselves.
The serpent consumes itself not as an act of destruction, but as an act of renewal.
Bloodlines: Opening Ritual for Ascension Suspension's 25th Anniversary
Thursday, July 9
Sunshine Theater, Albuquerque
On July 9, I will present a new ritual performance work titled Bloodlines as the opening invocation for Ascension Suspension's 25th Anniversary celebration.
For more than twenty-five years, Ascension Suspension has explored the outer limits of endurance, trust, transformation, and bodily transcendence. Their suspension rituals have been witnessed across the globe, cultivating a legacy that has profoundly influenced modern suspension culture and performance art.
Bloodlines is a visceral work combining Butoh, bloodletting, and flesh hook suspension. Rooted in themes of ancestry, inheritance, sacrifice, and becoming, the piece examines the unseen threads that bind us to those who came before us. Through stillness, movement, blood, and suspension, it asks what is carried through our lineage—and what must be surrendered in order to transform.
Following the opening ritual, Ascension Suspension will present an evening of suspension performance, endurance rites, immersive visual art, and acts that blur the boundary between sacred ritual and living sculpture.
This work is not simply about pain or spectacle. It is an exploration of devotion, resilience, vulnerability, and the profound psychological landscapes revealed when we willingly enter the unknown.
Both Ouroboros and Bloodlines investigate transformation through different gateways. One leads inward through meditation, breath, and sound. The other unfolds through the body itself—through offering, endurance, and ritual action.
Together, they are invitations to step beyond the familiar and encounter the mysteries that live beneath the surface of ordinary consciousness.
I hope you'll join us...
