About Sui Generis Magicka
Who is Sui Generis Magicka?
Greetings from occultist behind SGM! My name is Lauren.
Ritual magick has had presence in my life for as long as I can remember. The incorporation of blood in my work felt very natural and devotional in a way that I could not express with any other offering. I felt compelled to move through fear and pain to show, what I felt was, the ultimate giving of oneself.
Around 2008, I fell in love with visceral ritual performance art and Butoh, a Japanese form of meditative-like movement. Around the same time, I discovered the flesh hook suspension community- A blood rite practice derived from the Native Mandan tribe as well as correlations to the Thaipusam or Vegetarian festival in Malaysia.
With all that I learned from the performance, suspension and art communities, I saw an opportunity for femme identifying people to gather, lift each other and express their most primal and feral shadow selves- through rituals of flesh, blood, strength and steel and we began performing under the name Coven of Ashes.
I am also the founder and facilitator for the experimental project Dark Ambient Sound Bath. A Jungian approach to healing the shadow self through meditation, visualization, breath work and dark, electronic music.
All of my mediums take on a theme of exploring the depths of our shadows, unearthing the subconscious, altered states of consciousness and working with the natural forces around us- low magick, instinctual magick, chaos magick. With over 15 years of practice, study and immersion into these worlds, I have often been asked for my perspective, facilitation, instruction and aid in the workings of others and I have always been happy to lend my knowledge to those truly interested and in need. Thus, Sui Generis Magicka was born... Thank you for your support in this work!
