The Dark Art of Performance:
Rituals of Stage and Self
Monthly Workshop Series · February–July
Sundays · 2–4 PM
(Final Performance: July 5 · 6–8 PM)
The Dark Art of Performance is a ritual-based workshop series exploring embodiment, stage presence, and transformation through butoh, performance art, costuming, and character creation. Each monthly session functions as a focused laboratory—working with movement, voice, visibility, and the body as an expressive vessel.
Participants engage performance as ritual, treating the stage as an alchemical site rather than a space for polish or perfection. The series culminates in a final ritualized showcase, where original performance work is offered to an invited audience.
