Surya (the sun) is represented here in a sacred swazi.
Despite its controversial connotation, The Sacred Swazi has been displayed across many different cultures throughout history with very positive intentions. The Jain Swazi is representative of the 4 states of existence- infinite knowledge, perception, happiness and energy. The Navajo Swazi comes from the whirling logs creation myth. The Hindu Swazi is said to represent Kali. In many cultures it represents the sun, the elements or seasons and prosperity.
This beautiful imagery and representation have been bastardized by a historical travesty and deserves its multicultural reclamation through acknowledgement, education, respect and appreciation.
For this reason, my intention behind this Surya Swazi piece is enlightenment through alternative perspective. Wisdom cannot be gained with a closed mind. Take into consideration what you would like to accomplish or manifest and open yourself to any alternative perspectives there might be in terms of which path to follow.
This piece is made from Beaver mandibles, a sunburst of porcupine quills, coins for prosperity and silver turkmen ornaments.
The dimensions of this piece are 12" tall x 7" wide
